In this interview, Amy Hepworth of Hepworth Organic Farms in Milton, NY voices her ideas and concerns about the future of farming in NY State. Amy believes that in order to achieve the highest quality results in farming the Hudson Valley it is necessary to implement pest control techniques that have become available in recent years. She speaks about how many of these innovations are unavailable to organic farmers and how it is preferable in some instances to farm conventionally for the good of the crop and soil. Other topics include the adoption of organic growing mentality in conventional farming, her relationships with Whole Foods and the Park Slope Food Coop, funding issues for the Hudson Valley Lab and other important resources, and how consumer's choices shape the way she runs her farm and business. _____________________________ Information on organic farming: http://www.usda.gov/wps/portal/usda/usdahome?navid=ORGANIC_CERTIFICATIO More info on IPM: http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/factsheets/ipm.htm Park Slope Food Coop: http://foodcoop.com Hepworth Farms: www.hepworthfarms.com Cornell's Hudson Valley Lab: http://www.nysaes.cornell.edu/hudson/ ______________________________________ Like, Subscribe, Thanks for Watching!
