A fully outfitted farm shop would have provided the farmer with the ability to work on wood and metal items found around the farm and home. In addition to wood working tools and blacksmithing items such as a forge and anvil, a metal lathe would have been a real plus as you could cut threads and turn metal for a varity of projects. To power the old lathe and other machinery in the early 1900's, a line shaft setup would have likely been installed in the shop. This video shows how an original line shaft and old electric motor was installed to power the lathe. Come and see this and more for yourself!!!
