Here's my latest adventure in capturing indigenous microorganisms (IMO) from the area surrounding our garden for the Nursing Pathway at Windward Community College. I got the directions from a Korean Natural Farming book by Master Cho and with some advice from my friend Dave. The goal is to use the microbes to improve the soil health and nutrient availability to the plants. I wanted to keep the video short and easy to understand so I did not include the info on the amendments I added to IMO III which are Oriental Herbal Nutrient, Fermented Plant Juice, Brown Rice Vinegar, and Makgeolli (Korean rice wine). I'm still pretty new to it all but its similar to other methods of composting I've done before.

I wonder if a fungal based batch is better for the veg garden ? Well done video, Tia.

I was just making IMO 3 with Eli Bajalia over here in Florida, and just harvested some leaf litter from my favorite heirloom grove today to inoculate my own IMO here at the house. Ironic this popped up on my google+!
Hope your doing well! :] -
Hi David! That batch of IMO went into the soil a few weeks before planting during the fall season. You are correct in that the video leaves out some important elements of Master Cho's teachings like adding the Fermented Plant Juice, Mineral A and other additives but my intention was to give a brief introduction in a short video and provide a basic understanding of the process. What other key points do you think should have been included for a more thorough description of the methods?

I’d love to see more of what has come of this experiment. It shows promise and possibility. Although this is not IMO #3 or #4 per Master Cho’s KNF published methods. She appears to be missing many KNF inputs and may not have a full understanding of how to properly perform KNF.
