This is a video of our 2010 Koi buying trip to Yamakoshi, Ojiya in the Niigata prefecture of Japan. Ikarashi's slogan is "Koi is the Best." It is hard to argue with all the jumbo kohaku, sanke, and showa.

my guess would be to remove the dirt, sands on the shoes and to not accidentally contaminate the pond. :)

Thanks for viewing. This video was taken on Friday afternoon 10/29/10. The Nagaoka Grand Champion has a bigger white section from the base of the tail to the red. The pattern is very similar though. I didn't see the runner up of the Nogyosai 2011. I am not sure about the size of the koi in the video.
