wonderging .. if Is it possible to have the power pivot gallery and SQL server installed in two different boxes. Or the SQL Server (Power Pivot instance) should be on the same box where the SharePoint is installed.

As far as i know, it also works with sql 2008r2. I have been using powerpivot on a sharepoint 2010 farm, with sql 2008 db. You must remember to use the correct version of powerpivot in excel to make it work.

Question: I want to verify that PowerPivot for Sharepoint requires SQL 2012 enterprise, and won't work with any flavor of SQL 2010. Am I correct?
