Farms: How to make a Tree Farm in Minecraft: Harvest All Tree Types - Sapling Auto Collector

In this tutorial I show you how to make a Tree Farm that allows you to grow and harvest any type of wood/tree in Minecraft along with an auto collection system for the saplings. This means that you simply need to chop the wood, replant the sapling, and the machine will do the rest for you and have a new tree waiting the next time you come back! Why should you build this rather than just planting on the ground? First of all, planting trees on the ground is very tedious. If you want to get your saplings returned, you have to stay near it and collect them as it drops. This farm eliminates that problem and cleans up after you. Second, it's laid out in such a way that it has all types of trees grown for whenever you need them. That way the wood you want is always waiting for you. I built this (or, something like it) on a server under MC 1.9.2 and it will not work with the carpet on top of the glass. So, I used colored glass instead. I also adjusted the number of items in the Droppers so that my minecarts would have enough time to pick up some slow decaying trees' saplings. This is probably related to the server settings for decay. I was going to use Jack-O-Lanterns but they are such a problem to place that I did use Glowstone.

i figured out my first problem... im still curious if the glass blocks with carpet will still work in 1.8.1 or if we have to change all the blass blocks to dyed wool

how do the blocks fall through the glass and carpet in order to fall into the cart?? is that just a glitch?

I built this on my survival 1.8.1 world successfully. One thing to note: The hopper carts did not pick up anything that was on the carpet. I took out all the glass blocks and replaced them with colored wool and everything worked perfectly! Thanks for the great tutorial.

Great I just built your Portal Gold farm underground. I should build this on top of it so I can can be close enough for the tree to grow while AFKing. Wonder if that will work.
