Productivity | Information | History | View | Quality
John from http://www.okraw.com/ visits Gilcrease Orchard in Las Vegas, Nevada and shows you how to harvest the best fruits and vegetables from the farm. He will also share with you some of the ways he uses fresh fruits and vegetables in his diet. John will talk about the following produce items in this episode: Kale, Collards, Bok Choi, Spinach, Asparagus, Carrots, Beets, Garlic, Spring Onions, Turnips, Zucchini and Peaches. You will also discover why fresh harvested fruits and vegetables are better than buying them from the store. You will learn if Gilcrease orchard is organic and if they spray their crops and if the produce is ok to eat. Along the way you will probably learn a thing or two about fresh produce that you did not know before. Hopefully after watching this episode, you will support your local farmers and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. I had a serious problem with thyroid when I started vegan diet. I used the blender and did exactly what the author of this video suggests: dump in a lot of dark greens. I think that the dark greens need to be taken in moderation, if they are rich in nutrients we don't really need a lot of it. My diet is still mostly vegan but I haven't touched collard greens nor kale since my health problem. Just wanted to share, maybe people's tolerance levels are different...anyway, I have great respect for this channel. Very good, positive stuff!

Awesome video! Thank you John!

Also, I love what you said about organic. Local>organic, in my opinion!

This is awesome! I grew up near a bunch of farms in Ontario, and one of my close family friends had a fantastic vegetable garden. Now that I live in the city, I get my produce from a local Co-op. I wish I could pick my own!
Unfortunately Ontario lacks in all the cool fruit. We get lots of berries and apples, though! -
I dig the pick your own veges/fruit thing. It gives people the opportunity to see how other farmers do their stuff and get inspiration from it.

Good quality and cheap veg!!

Small farms are going under because other companies are able to give a lower price. Plain and simple. Growing your own food of course is cheapest in the long run. More people should be checking out growingsyourgreens.com to see how to do it well.

Thanks
Do you freeze any of your fruits and veggies so they don't go bad. Or dehydrate them???
