We are JDRF- a global, non-profit organization funding Type 1 Diabetes Research. We work hard to make a world T1D-free a reality for millions of people that struggle with this life-treating disease. Type One Diabetes can’t be prevented for no and there is no cure. Our organization works on a grassroots model and we make everything possible to decrease the T1D burden. But we can’t do it without you. Only with your help, we turn type one into type none. Don’t hesitate to make a contribution by donating or volunteering. Your help will directly impact our research. Media Credits list http://broadcaster.beazil.net/public/credits/youtube/videos/73095 Type 1 diabetes in children used to be known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes. If your doctor thinks you have T1D, he will check your blood sugar levels. Many people with T1D lives healthy lives. The key to good health is to keep your blood sugar levels within the range doctor gives you. How is Type 1 Diabetes Different from Type 2 Diabetes? In type 2 diabetes, your body does not use insulin properly. This is called insulin resistance. At first, the beta-cells make extra insulin to make up for it. But, over time your pancreas isn’t able to keep up and can’t make enough insulin to keep your blood glucose levels normal. Type 2 diabetes can be treated with oral medications, and/or insulin. Type 1 diabetes is always treated with insulin. We are JDRF - Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We won’t stop until we create a world without T1D (type one diabetes). Kalamazoo is the site of two universities and two colleges. Western Michigan University (WMU), one of the top public research universities in the country, offers 254 degree and certificate programs to its nearly 28,000 students. Its wide array of centers and institutes conduct research and share knowledge gained with business, government, and other organizations. U.S. News and World Report magazine has consistently ranked WMU as a leading national university throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Kalamazoo College, Michigan's oldest (founded in 1833), is located in Kalamazoo's historic district and offers its 1,234 students bachelor of arts degree programs in 25 majors and 9 areas of concentration, such as international and area studies, environmental studies, public policy and urban affairs, and others. Among its 19 buildings and facilities are the Dow Science Center, and the Stryker Center, which offers seminars in business and management. Excluded from this sector are aerobic classes in Subsector 713, Amusement, Gambling, and Recreation Industries and nonmedical diet and weight reducing centers in Subsector 812, Personal and Laundry Services. Although these can be viewed as health services, these services are not typically delivered by health practitioners. Since its founding more than 40 years ago by parents of children affected by type 1 diabetes, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) has been committed to finding a cure for all those individuals living with the disease. Today, JDRF acknowledges that this commitment will not likely be fulfilled in the near term. Although our ultimate goal—curing type 1 diabetes—remains unchanged, we are equally committed to better treating and preventing the disease. These goals aim to ensure that both children and adults living with type 1 diabetes remain healthy so that they can fully benefit from a cure when it becomes available. JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D.
