Farms: How Robots Are Saving the Dairy Farm
Productivity | Information | History | View | Quality
March 9 -- Today’s dairy farm is a far cry from what ads and movies would have you believe. Cows go to robotic milking stations on their own, where they are identified, milked, and sent back out to the barn until the next milking. They are even fed by a Volkswagen-sized robot called the Vector. All this means a dairy farm of 200 cows can be easily run by four people. Bloomberg's Sam Grobart visited Sunny Glade Farm in Canada where robots handle most of the work and the cows like it just fine. with so much unemployment it is stupidity by the society to go for robots for dairies.
-

-

So easy to tell who knows thier stuff and who doesn't. Please refrain from comments if you got your information of of a misinformed documentary. Only if you have visited more than one dairy in your life. I respect your opinions, but please make sure you have a little bit of experience. I would argue with a lot of points made here but there are far to many. thank you

As the cows roaming area gets smaller and it can move less. The people that consume the milk move less. GO TO SLEEP!

"Cows go to robotic milking stations on their own, where they are identified, milked, and sent back out to the barn until the next milking." Just like 'Muricans at tax time.
-
"Grains, barley and supplements." Supplements like antibiotics, mineral oil and other pharma chemicals to keep the frothy bloat and acidosis symptoms managed so the cows don't die immediately from the grain induced disease/sickness.

I wish we had that

Ffs, kind of annoying hearing people complain about dairy farms/cows.... not all dairys treat their cows like shit, lets face it all animals get taken away from their mum as an infant. Milking them does not kill them, they have around a 2 month break in total every year from milking.
I don't get why people think that the dairy industry is 'so cruel' just from something negative they may have seen/heard. There are such thing as decent people that treat theyre animals fairly and give them the best life that they can. Cows are used for beef, milk, have done for years and will continue to do so, its just a fact of life... not much people can do about it..
And btw, these machines are amazing :) -
incredible, wish my farm had that

Still falling for technology!
If every dairy farm purchased this equipment the competitive edge would be lost and there would eventually be no economic advantage.
The reason why the dairy industry is in decline is that people are becoming better informed thanks to the internet age... when you add up the facts and come to a conscious decision many are choosing to reduce their intake of milk and meat.
If you're reading this and have yet to make up your mind on the subject do take some time to view the documentary films:
Cowspiracy
Earthlings
Many consider these film to be "life changing"! -

I find cow milk disgusting..we don't need it to survive, yet we breed and keep the cows like this

No more dairy farms! there is no reason to steal a baby's food when you don't have to.
