What do you do with nearly 300,000 students who have scored D plain and below in the KCSE exams? Well, while individual parents are grappling with this dilemma, the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority says it has capacity to absorb all such students and equip them with high end technical skills. Sylvia Chebet reports. Citizen TV is Kenya's leading television station commanding an audience reach of over 60% and in its over 12 years of existence as a pioneer brand for the Royal Media Services (RMS), it has set footprints across the country leaving no region uncovered. 8-4-4 is a school system that was put in place by a communist during a dark time in this country. It may have worked for the economy of the 70s & 80s but it sure as hell isn't working in this day & age. It's a system that enforces what's good for John is good for James what's good for Sally is good for Sue... But what if it's not. There's nothing wrong with John or Sally wanting to become a lawyer or doctor but what if James wants to be an illusionist or a painter what if Sue wants to be an actress or even an astronaut, the 8-4-4 system limits them to too bad this is what we have take it or leave it.

Finally a voice of reason! Kenyan vocational institutes have been ran down because universities are 'everything' and most cheat to get in.
about time we teach everyone that every single job a hobby or otherwise is important from farming, carpentry, wielding, tailoring, acting, hairdressing, mechanic, plumbing, landscaping, masonry etc all these should be incorporated and recognised -
Kenya should research on the school systems from first world. Kenyan school system is crap. And teachers should stop physically and mentally abusing children that's old fashioned like 100 years ago

The interviewee in this news piece makes a lot of sense... our educational system is wanting! personally am a victim, but made it in life... now creating employment opportunities for the A's & B's.
