umm , just a thought , get a blue electrical butt connector, slide it on the adjuster, works every time ;)
-
the tool is available on Amazon.com and other places and doesn't cost much, one even came with my new Ryobi carb I bought last time.
-
omg....dont do this its a waste of time!! i just bought the $4 tool....done
-
I just used my dremel tool to cut slots for screw driver
-
Thanks for the video I used your method had it running perfect so when it was stolen I put a new carb on a pos homelite weed eater the wire connectior worked great also
-
all you need is plastic tube as used silicon or glue tube and cut the end off push over the adjusters and turn, works a treat none of this cutting rubbish.
-
i did mine with a hack saw. cut a single groove down center of housing and screws, until i was deep enough that screws now would fit flat screwdriver.

Stop posting the same thing over and over. Once is enough.

How does the choke plate work? I'm see you didn't show it at all.

Absolute fix for homelite stalls and hard start. IF ITS AIR FUEL ISSUE. You don't even have to remove the carb, pull off air filter cap, Tape the throttle handle tight to the hand grip on the shaft as it moves throttle plate away from cutting area, use dremel with thin cutoff disc, cut through housing and middle of adjusting pins to a depth of 1/8" using a side to side motion. Use flat head screwdriver to adjust fully closed clockwise, back both out 2.5 turns, use new slot in pins as gauge for turning radius. follow directions for cranking, mine is 8 pumps bulb, 4 cordpulls at full choke, 4 at half, or less if it fires earlier, then same on run.all I need is one pull on each and it fires. Done this on 3 homelites, mine, neighbors, neighbors brother. Works !!! Be careful, you do not want to cut cable for throttle. I also recommend the fuel line/bulb kit from home depot for 7.99 as it changes the fuel filter in the tank as well. I did this also on all three. Never use ethanol gas. Marinas have ethanol free.

adjustment screws are all set the same way, screw it until tight (not too tight) back out 2.5 turns, start then adjust. It's the same for any carbie.

I recently bought the tools online that adjust 4 different types of 2 cycle carb screws. http://www.amazon.com/Cycle-Carburetor-Adjustment-Includes-530035560/dp/B00DQADGUM

You had the right idea, but went about it the wrong way. All you have to do is take a hack saw and put the carb in a vice with a piece of wood on each side to protect the jaws from ruining the carb. Then take a hacksaw and make a slot across the screws, cutting down through the material around the adjustment screws and the screw at the same time.

use a section from old car antenna the kind that telescopes out, also antenna from portable radio

I used a plastic soda straw. It needs to be a bit smaller so it is forced on carb. adjuster screw. worked like a charm.

A simpler one minute solution would have been to run a hacksaw across the screw and housing then you'll have a slot to use a flat screw driver to turn it. The great master has spoken!
