My most admired immigrant peoples are those who immigrated to the US following the Vietnam War, in which I served. The Hmong, Lao, Cambodians and other minority ethnic groups have both assimilated in the second and third generations, but have worked to retain their unique cultures. The culinary traditions are the ones that we all should come to appreciate and partake of.

I am happy to see that there are Hmong that can make a living out of farming...I like to think that they are proud of their accomplishment.
