This is how we make hay in Saskatchewan, Canada. 2nd version - due to the other video not being available in certain areas. Music: E.S. Posthumus - Anumati Spreading Manure -- Is an excellent source of nutrients and organic matter for crops to grow from. Harrowing -- Spreads the manure, smooth's out the field and warms the soil. Seeding -- Planting alfalfa, which doesn't need to happen every year as alfalfa is a perennial. Harrowing -- Helps structure the soil, covers the seeds, and further levels the ground. Land Rolling -- Pushes down stones and other metal that could be hazardous. Also flattens the field. Swathing -- Discbine efficiently cuts the hay, conditions it, and leaves it in rows. Raking - We try to avoid raking as it can reduce hay quality, however if weather conditions are unfavorable we do this to help dry the hay. Baling -- Picks up the hay, compacts it into a bale, and wraps it. Stacking Bales -- Picks up the bales and stacks them in rows. Hauling Bales -- Loading to sell or bring home to feed our cows.
