Johann Bruhn, a research associate professor at the University of Missouri, loves truffles. So much so that he has focused his life work to the study of them. He plans to set up truffiere, or truffle farms, in Missouri. He hypothesizes that these farms will bring revenue through ecotourism as well as simply due to the fact that truffles are a high priced crop.

There are many people who successfully grow truffles throughout the world. As for becoming insanely rich, I'm not sure. Truffles are tempermental little bastards, with yields not being even remotely assured and the investment into cultivation isn't immediate or cheap. Not to mention flooding markets with mass truffles would kill their high price point.
