"Greener Pastures" - a documentary on biological farming. Basically, it is the story of Neil Armitage, a Maori Dairy farmer who was based in Hawkes Bay. He had a dream of having a large conventional dairy farm with a thousand cow herd. When he was close to reaching the goal his Maori heritage impacted him. The awakening of Kaitiakitanga, which means guardianship and caring for the environment became apparent to Neil and over next seven years he converted his conventional dairy farm, to one using sustainable Biological farming systems.

I just realised that Neil died when he was only 51. Was his premature departure due to illness, or due to an accident? This is such a loss to the biological farming community and to New Zealand and New Zealanders in general.

Thanks for the great documentary!
If we had people in government who care about New Zealand rather than big business, they would have promoted organics and banned GMOs. New Zealand could have been a leader and shining beacon to the entire world instead of a haven for criminals in government and big business who are poisoning New Zealand, its landscape and people for profit while at the same time promoting New Zealand as "clean and green" and a "100% pure", which is total BS.
I hope that thanks to Neil and others like him, New Zealand farming as a whole will return to more natural methods. -
What an amazing story!
