Music & Lyrics : Goran Agdur Guitars : Bie Karlsson My father, Gunnar Agdur, was born in Orsa 1922. Already as a young boy he helped his parents with work that needed to be done at the farm "Agdurgården" in Born, 3 km north of Orsa. Following the words of the Bible, " Those who does not work shall not eat...", my father had to obey, as my grandmother and grandfather were living their lives strictly according to the teachings of the 'Missionary Church' ("Missionskyrkan"). Throughout his whole life my 'Pa' kept having difficulties enjoying the "fruits" of his work, no matter how much my mum encouraged him, and wanted him to do so. Til' the day he died his energy and marvellous humour stimulated and inspired many friends at work and at home. His outspoken manner could provoke many of those who came close to the the family. He loved to tell "dirty jokes" in "noble" environments and together with "cheeky" people who thought of themselves more important and on a "higher level" than others. He enjoyed provoking the "genteel and posh", my mother tried to kick his leg underneath the tables "not now Gunnar! Please! Stop, not in front of these people!", "kicks" which only turned him on to tease the neighbours at these dinner tables even more. My father focused on the practical work that needed to be done, with his senses like antennas more in Future prospects than diving too much into the passed, always concerned about making the best ever possible out of his work, deeply rooted in the materialistic world, interested in the latest technological inventions, especially in the fields of fishing and filming, when he occasionally offered himself some spare time, following also scientific research as close as he could."Get to the Heart of the Matter" he often said irritated about people who kept too long time talking to their own nose. I can here him now, c'mon Göran, "what are you on about, no one's interested in this, Your life is full as it is, don't you even think of spending time on me!" I remember him saying to me after playing some piano pieces , "That's a nice little tune my son, but What are You gonna Do With It?" To my mum he could say after being unfaithful "why do You bring it up, that's a burried crow!"...After retiring I heard him angrily mutter "what's the meaning of anything if we don't know why we are here?" He was eager to catch a glimpse of the sketches of the manager of construction of "Life itself", and book a meeting to get to know what we're all about. Working History : 1938 : Orsa Motor & Mekaniska Verkstad : Different kinds of practical work !942-44 : Military service at Vaxholm : As "Field gauges" !944-45 : Svenska Flygmotor AB, Trollhättan : Constructor He rated himself this as his first "real job". One of his tasks here was to reconstruct the motors of the massproduced aircraft that the German Nazis used under the second world war to bomb London with ("the Blitz") into motors that could be used for regular flights with ordinary aeroplanes. 1946-1950 : Karlstads Mekaniska Verkstad : Constructor & Dep.manager Here my Pa drew the first sketches of the Proppeler to "Hurtigrutten", the boat that goes in and out of the Norwegian fjords between Bergen and Kirkenes. This construction was later on mentioned as the legendary "Kamewa proppeler" 1950-51 : AB Vretstorpsverken : Drawing office manager, Engineering manager & Location manager 1951-56 : AB Nilseén & Westberg, Karlstad : Sales director. 1956-60 : Tornborg & Lundberg AB, Sundsvall : Location manager & Engineering manager 1960-62 : Tornborg & Lundberg AB, Stockholm : Director of the contracting machinery dep. 1962-67 : Söderbergh & Haak AB : Director of the contracting machinery dep. : "Poclain", "NCK Rapier", "Michigan". 1967-68 : Åkermans AB : Sales director of the engineering dep. 1968-1987 : Svenska Traktor AB, Barkarby : Sales director of the contracting machinery dep. : "OK","Barber Greene", "Komatsu", "Allis Chalmers" & "Pallari" (root gatherers) My father was really enthusiastic about the "Pallari" root gatherers, and once met the man behind this invention. The root gatherers pull up the roots in order to make wood chips and paper pulp of them, roots that before were just left behind. "Pa" however didn't like to see clear-cut areas in forests , without newly planted, as he claimed must be done, seed trees, that make way for new forests to grow.
