Dairy farms in New Hampshire and across New England are in dire straits. It costs about $1.80 to produce a gallon of milk, but our local farmers are only getting about $1.25 for their effort. They are sinking deeper and deeper into debt. This week, the Milk Producers Emergency Relief Fund Board is holding a public hearing into ways of stabilizing milk producer prices and keeping our farms alive. Our guests will include the NH Commissioner of Agriculture,Lorraine Merrill,Bob Wellington, Senior VP of Economics with Agri-Mark Dairy Cooperative, Lynn Bohan VP of PR and Govt. Affairs with H.P. Hood, and Jamie Robertson,a dairy farmer in Hopkinton.
