Many years ago I was impressed by success business stories like this. Not so anymore. First off its easy when you have a father or parents to back you up. Not everyone has this chance. I have heard about a lot of young farm couples who put in 5 years of hard work with the promise from soon to be retired parents that after the 5 years are up the son and his wife obtains ownership of the farm. At that point in time the parents reject them and continue to keep the farm or later sell it. On top of that the farmer in a lot of cases experience a divorce because for the last 35 years women are allowed into professions like law and accounting. Consequently the farm gets sold. I have seen a lot of this in southern Ontario Canada where I live. Farms that have been in the same family for generations are gone because of all this and corporate farms take over. Not a very comfortable feeling. A lot of guys who are driving cabs and flipping burgers in the city should be out there farming. No man, termed father should have that power to send his son to do dead end jobs. Society should be taught that being a farm wife is every bit as rewarding as high end professions in the cities. Its high time for this society of ours to look at ourselves in the mirror and face up to our faults.
