That's a better Confederate flag than the Confederate Flag.
-

Fuck this world. -

And if you're thinking, "But hold on John, what if I'm an asshole who couldn't give a shit about America's hungry families or the long-term viability of life on Earth?"
Well, first, let me say, Mr. Trump, thank you so much for taking the time to watch this show tonight. It's lovely to have you with us.
BURN. -
I hate John Oliver so much

People need to just use their brains instead of going by expiration dates. I've had food that went bad before the expiration date, and I obviously didn't eat it. I've also had food last long after the expiration date. Use your nose and eyes to tell if food is bad or not. If it is, throw it out, if it isn't eat it. Plain and simple.

compost it, sell it
-
best episode ever.

Your old cereal is incompatible with your mouth :D

My school gives hundreds of pounds of food every year to a food drive--some of it from students' homes, some of it fresh produce grown in our school garden.
That's right.
We're better than you. -
It should be mandatory for grocery stores to donate edible food that they'd throw out. A bruised banana might not sell to a rich soccer mom, but a starving family would be incredibly grateful for it. A lot of food is tossed out while still being perfectly safe to eat!

In germany there are several charitable organisations like "die Tafel" that collect food that is supposed to be thrown away and distribute it to people that need it. I assume that's the same in the US. Of course it's quite likely that those organisations are way underfunded and understaffed.

i learned about this at school. everyone should.

Actually, what is a joke is that Companies *are* allowed tax breaks for donating food: Always *have* had a tax break for donating food and always *will* have a tax break for donating food. In fact, all they have to do is have the shelter fill out a form which determines the value (cost) of the food donated, and companies can file on line 19 of their form 1120 (the line that says 'Donations').

Starving kids in Africa could have eaten all of those football stadiums. . . . . . .
-
They already do this in other countries. The food can't be thrown away it has to be given to the poor! I would think that we could do that here in America but, the fucking Republicans are nothing but greedy assholes that think that poor people shouldn't be allowed to eat or live.
