The New York Times says he's "Virginia's most multifaceted agrarian since Thomas Jefferson [and] the high priest of the pasture"; Salatin calls himself a environmentalist capitalist lunatic farmer, and we call him a heck of a good time! We were thrilled to have this outspoken and animated pioneer in beyond-organic farming visit us at Wanderlust Vermont in Stratton, VT in June of 2012. Salatin here speaks about numerous aspects of farming, food, and nutrition, including why Gluten intolerance seems to have skyrocketed in recent years and why it's important for children to have chores (hint: it's not the discipline, it's the visceral connection to the cycle of life and tangible objects that surround them). Culinary Ignorance...true story, My family and I get truck loads of graded string beans and other ag products....to keep from them being thrown away and we give them to people in the community, We had women who wanted loads of string beans and had NO IDEA how to cook them.

i love what this guy says i watch the tv show"Farm Kings" who follow his lead in this kind of farming , and this is how it should be, it is so screwed up don't know if we can ever turn it around, take the "GMO'" situation not sure if we can turn it around maybe too late.

Hmmm... Just noticed that Salatin says 'all of our customers are women', but they sell to Chipolte, right? And to chefs; some of those are not women. The source, production, and preparation of food ought to be of interest to anyone - everyone - who eats, shouldn't it?
