A short film (6 minutes) telling the story of how a small group of European journalists, researchers and computer programmers uncovered the secrets of the European Union's 55 billion euro a year common agricultural policy. In the process they revealed the extent of corporate welfare and large handouts to some of Europe's wealthiest landowners. This is a short version of a longer (18 minute) film which is also available online, including subtitled versions in English, French, German, Spanish, Romanian and Italian.

There is actually a lot of truth in that. Farmers actually reject subsidies, although without them most of Eurasia’s and North America’s farmland would become urban housing. However, the urban poor in Eurasia probably support farm subsidies in order to stop depreciation of the Euro, Pound Sterling, Yen and Won against currencies of efficient producers in Australia and Africa. Such depreciation would diminish the urban poor’s ability to buy consumer goods which require imported raw materials.

Why do you people always want to pick on farmers? Don't you realise that subsidies are for the public to get cheap food? Farmers don't want them we'd rather have a fair price for our produce. Goverments want subsidies so they can control farmers. Why don't you go find out how much public money is wasted by local councils and hospitals.
