Rockville's Saturday farmers market are open from May 11 through Nov 23 and is located in the parking lot at the corner of Route 28 and Monroe Street. One vendor featured this season, Farmhouse Flowers and Plants, hails from Brookeville just 11 miles from Rockville town center. The farm has been in the Dowling family since the 1940s, and tends nearly three acres of annual and perennial plants that grew from a small cutting garden starting in 1994. It also houses more than 12,500 square feet of growing area in seven heated greenhouses, allowing the farm to produce cut flowers all year round. Farmhouse will sell the best of its flowers and plants at Rockville's farmers market. Rockville's other popular farmers market takes place on Wednesdays and opens on June 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Rockville town center along East Montgomery Avenue. The Wednesday market will run weekly through Sept. 25. The markets provide customers an opportunity to purchase farm-fresh locally-grown produce, cheese, meats, baked goods, flowers and more. The Saturday market participates in Eat Fresh Maryland, a program designed to expand access to fresh fruits and vegetables for low-income residents. Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards are accepted at the Saturday market. EBT card users can use their card on eligible items such as fruits, vegetables, and meats. Card holders can also get up to $10 of matching EBT funds each week at the Saturday market. For more information on the Rockville Farmers Market, go online to www.rockvillemd.gov/farmers
