Your Case tractor must have been a lemon or some sort of early model without the bugs worked out yet because I've had the best of luck with Case over the past four decades. Our farm ran mostly Case IH, some Deere, and an Oliver. The only brand we sold off over the years due to constant down time were the John Deere tractors.
My wife's grandfather left us his 360 acre holstein farm and grape vinyard that was ran by 7 John Deere tractors and there were a couple that were near and "deere" to his heart that he kept just for nostalgia. I spent the first 2 months piecing together all the broken work tractors to put them back to work and then over the next 2 years I got his 4020, 2010, and 730 non-workers back in action. Upon finding the record books for his fleet of Deere tractors that went all the way back to 1959, I noticed the extreme amount of repairs these tractors underwent over the years. I keep records for all my tractors too and damn, my record books don't look like his. There isn't a tractor in his fleet that wasn't down for at least a solid week every year.
I sold off half his cows and ran the farm at 50% because between my farm and his, there was just too much on my plate. I tried running his glorious John Deere tractors but the only one that wasn't falling apart was the 310C Backhoe. This man was very anal about maintaining his tractors and even he couldn't keep them going. His father worked for Deere so no matter what he would never consider switching brands. Many guys refuse to change no matter what.
I ended up selling every one of the Deere tractors except one 4020 and the 730 for a future investment. I switched the farm over to a Case IH farm and the record books don't have to be opened 1/3 as much as they use to. -
