Farms: Exploring A Beautifully Aged Abandoned Farm House in Kawartha Lake
Productivity | Information | History | View | Quality
A fantastic random find in Kawartha Lake, Ontario. This house does not sit abandoned because of urban sprawl as so many of the houses I explore do. This house is abandoned, for other reasons..death of the owner, estate issues, family squabble, whatever..all I know if this place was fantastic. Aging peacefully, paint chipping with 14" molding, pocket doors, extra large solid banister..someone loved this home, and I got to appreciate it after they were long gone. This place has been around since at least 1925 and screams classic, even the 60's tipped over coffee table and green push vacuum made me smile. However, finding dead creatures is becoming all too normal. Please enjoy, because I know I loved this place! THIS VIDEO WAS FROM APRIL 2013 NOT 2012! NiennaDava shared this link about the house..AMAZING history!!! http://jermalism.blogspot.ca/2012/06/abandonment-issues-fowlers-corners.html

i do find these a bit sad as its past must have been awesome, and who ever did live there,im sure did also, damn i wonder what happened to him/her
thank u for showing us this -
It had to be a worse drag doing dishes there with that kitchen sink set up.

This is really cool I have a trailer right up the road from there and I have always wanted to go inside of it!

love watching your video's. hate when I see the vandalism. I seen one that involved a whole family. They were going through the house seeing what they could take. So sad.

Thank you for taking your time to share this with us all! absolutely sooo pretty!

I have been in that house too many years before when The family was still living there. It was a horse farm and you could pay for rides through trails which we did often when I was a kid. interesting to see it now I drive by from time to time seeing it slowly falling apart.

I can't figure out why old houses have too many doors my house was built in 1920 and ever where there was a door so strange.

Reading the newspaper article attached to the blog, it sounded like all the branch of that family that owned the house had died. The one family member spokesperson, 77yrs, wasn't in that branch unfortunately. When they said the estate needed to be settled & this house still remains vacant after so long, I think the township or whatever the gov't body is in Canada, owns it. I'd encourage anyone who wants some acreage & is a tradesman or superhandy could probably pick this up for a song. Sadly, this probably holds true for a lot of these abandoned houses. Such a shame. It's a good thing IKEA doesn't build houses!

That green thing I think is a floor buffer. We had one just like it when I was a kid except ours was yellow. It's ancient, from at least the '50s. The front part of the house is from 1880s- 1890s. The back part was likely added some time in the '20s as the back is Craftsman style and the front Queen Anne. Nice old house. Too bad it's been let go like that.

What was the whispering at about 10:35?

I love that house, all the nooks and crannies, they just don't make houses like that! Wonder what happened to the racoons! Seems like this house isn't totally lost, it still could come back to life yet with alot of TLC!

This building has real character and quality craftsmanship. The fieldstone basement reminded me of an old farmhouse I was interested in purchasing years ago. That was until, I inquired of the realtor about a 9x9 room off the large living room. He called it a viewing/funeral parlor. Ah, the good ole days. :)

Wow, that house was amazing. Beautiful interior. I loved the front stair case, the space, and my favourite feature of old houses the walk-in attic. I've always wanted one of those. Too bad this house is in bad condition. It would take a lot of work and money to restore it but it would be worth it.

is it for sale?

I always enjoy your videos but after reading the back story on this property I don't know how to feel, it's just sickening what a piddling amount of money will do to people, & alcohol abuse of course. The house is destroyed but the stair case still intact is amazing! 🏠🌾

Hey, I know that house, I drive by it everyday on my way to work. I remember when it was occupied and it was so sad to see it abandoned. My husband and I often comment how sad we feel for the old house.
