CEDARVILLE, Ohio (Erica Collura) -- On Wednesday, May 14, 2014, storms rolled from south to north across the Tri-State. Hail the size of golf balls were found in West Union while trees, homes, and cars suffered damage from these storms. A particularly strong storm originated in Warren County and triggered a severe thunderstorm warning for northeast Warren County and southern Greene County, including Cedarville. Folks in the areas near Cedarville had just under 30 minutes to take cover and get in their safe place. A tornado touched down west of Stringtown Road, just northeast of Xenia. The tornado intensified as in moved northeast and hit a farm. A house was destroyed along with a second that was badly damaged. Winds were estimated to be around 145 mph when it struck the farmhouse. After causing major damage along Barber Road in Cedarville, the tornado gradually weakened and lifted near the Greene-Clark County line. The path length was nine miles with a maximum path width of 400 yards. It was on the ground for 19 minutes. Thankfully, there were no injuries or fatalities.
