This old farmhouse was where I spent my teenage years. It was built in 1904 by Dr. Lake as a wedding present for his wife and sits on a large hill that overlooks the blue ridge and catoctin mountains. It is said to be one of the best views in all of Loudoun County. It is about 1 mile from the Philomont General Store. When we arrived to film the house, the gate was locked at the front . We made our way to the back and there was a gate there also, but a passage around the fence. We walked along the back side to get to the main house.

That's too bad. That nice of a house needs a family.

No one lives in the house now, but someone lives down by the dairy barn in a trailer. I imagine they take care of it. sorta. Its owned by the Gables, but there was a for sale sign on it. My family never owned it. We just rented it.

I would love a place like that. I grew up in the country and wouldn't have changed that for anything. I live in town now, but I still think about how great it was to be a kid in the country. Just wondering though, Meade. Is anybody living at that house? I mean, did you get permission to go on the property, or does someone in your family still own it?:)
