the dude that always comes for festivities is such a creep. he actually reminds me of the guy from pride and prejudice, the wicker cousin.

In Carrara (Italy, the "marble place) they were making ham in big marble basins by covering the meat with salt ... but since they are now in the EU they had to follow EU hygiene regulations and clean the tubs with several chemicals. That obviously ruins the tub surface and is pretty much unnecessary because that much salt kills bacteria anyways. I have no idea if the EU or if traditions prevailed ... but that shows how braindead the EU bureaucracy is.

Most of this series looks like a sham. A series of staged little country-life vignettes that could have been presented without the guise of doing this "Edwardian Farm" farce.

I grew strawberries for years...all of alex and ruth's unnecessary labour surrounds the 'baby strawberry plants - all they had to do was make sure the secondary plant was leafed, then cut the stem from the parent plant, making it thus it's 'own' plant. you also have to 'bleed' strawberry plants. that is, nipping the little leaves of the 'y' joints or 'branches of the plant - this will result in larger berries. I admire and have watched all of their work on all series. my comments serve only to help those who enjoy gardening. Cheers.

At 50:00, when they are discussing keeping the pantry dry, does anybody have anymore information on what she is using?

As a goat milker.. I found this hilarious.

I visited here before they turned it into a sort of theme park, when the only tourist attraction was a railway trip into the copper mine.

Last episode Alex was lucky he can still walk & feel his lower body after that roof climb. There's "authentic", then there's "plain stupid". Alex crossed that line.
