Eastern Carolina Organics (ECO) is a farmer-owned cooperative headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, whose purpose is to market and wholesale produce from organic and sustainable farms in North Carolina. ECO gives larger farmers the option to focus on growing, while smaller farms are able to source their products with the leverage of volume combined with other farms. ECO is the recipient of two Local Producer Loans from Whole Foods Market, most recently in 2012 to help finance ECO's transition to a much larger facility in Durham.
