John Flocchini, 52, raises bison on over 50,000 acres on his family's ranch near Gillette, Wyoming. All of Flocchini's buffalo/bison meat is sold under the label of Durham Ranch. Flocchini is a third generation bison farmer -- his family bought the Durham Ranch in 1965. Last month, we got to take a video tour of John's farm and got a sneak peak into his day-to-day experiences. Here, he tells us more about the challenges of bison farming.

I love Wyoming. I was just wondering why not use atv or horse back to move the herd?

What a great way to be happy, John. Taking gentle sentient beings to their eventual death so you can make a buck. And in your warped mind, you are very proud of yourself. Remember--what goes around, comes around.

Visited your beautiful ranch in July while in Casper on a mission trip. Viewing this today was a very sweet retreat back there. Hope to visit again & see more of your amazing animals and area.

And i see all the land for sale out there, WY, UT, ID, Nv, etc.. all pretty much only good for raising animals., I only want a few, and a little house of my own.. maybe an acre or 5, so, good for you man.. thank your grandfather, and your hard work.. very blessed indeed

Out of those 550 bison, I wonder how many of them were males including bulls.

Spectacular. You never actually work a day in your life do you?
-
Sure beats trying to shoot 'em bareback with a sharp stick. Nice video, all in a days work.

My local Sprouts store sells frozen ground elk from your ranch but I thought elk were strictly wild game, not farmed and therefore could not be sold commercially. How is this possible? High fence herd? Same for antelope?

Im jealous of this guy
You should stay off You Tube and sit in your Manhattan rat hole eating your rat food and quinoa. You've probably never been out of the hell hole you live in so until you have keep your ignorant comments to yourself.
