Since our inception in 1987, our goal has been to reduce injury rates for children living on farms in Durham Region. We are able to do this by providing farm families with a high quality, affordable and easily accessible option to meet their seasonal childcare needs. We service all areas of Durham Region. Our qualified caregivers come right to your farm and are prepared to spend a day of play focused activities and craft experiences with your children. Farms are a workplace and can be dangerous for children. By having one of our students in the home caring for your children, parents are better able to concentrate on farm work during peak times without having their children in the workplace. Our program operates from May to the end of August, typically one of the busiest times of the year for most farmers. We offer care for babies thorough to age 12. There is a minimum daily usage of 4 hours and a maximum of 8 hours. Our rates are dependant upon the number of children requiring care and are very reasonable at six dollars per hour for up to 3 children, seven dollars per hour for four children and eight dollars per hour for 5 or more children. We are grateful for the ongoing support of many agricultural organizations in Durham Region who offer both cash and in kind donations which helps us to keep our user fees as low as possible.
