GENESEE COUNTY/Byron/ Bergen Byron/ Bergen High school students drive their farm tractors to school today High school senior Connor Nesbitt approached Superintendent Casey Kosiorek in the fall about a drive your tractor to school day event. Kosiorek thought the event would be a great idea. So today, Connor and 10 of his classmates got to experience the first ever drive your tractor to school day at Byron Bergen Jr. Sr. High School. The 10 students, who work on their family's farm or work for farms in the area, hopped on their farm tractors and drove them to school about 7:00 this morning. Principal Aaron Johnson says with a push for agribusinesses in Genesee County and with the Genesee Valley Education Partnership starting an agribusiness academy next year, the school district thought holding a drive your tractor to school day would be a good way to get things going. Nesbitt says he and his classmates hope to stir up more interest in farming by holding an event like this. He says most students don't realize what goes into making the food they eat. The district hopes to continue next year with another drive your tractor to school day. For more on this story watch Time Warner Cable News, WGRZ and WHAM.
