Meet Drake, Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc.'s latest rescue. Drake was brought to the shelter with his sister Jilly. Apparently, upon falling on hard times, their previous owner abandoned them on a farm where they were left to fend for themselves running around outdoors for the past year. Irritated neighbors started circulating talk of shooting the two dogs to dispose of them when a good Samaritan stepped in knowing what a cruel and heartless solution that was. RBARI was contacted for help and thankfully Drake and Jilly are now safe and sound in warm beds at the shelter. Jilly is in pretty good shape, missing some teeth and scarred probably from chewing through fencing, but Drake is a different story. Poor Drake was plagued with a horrible flea dermatitis and has lost almost all of his hair. He is emaciated and shows some muscle loss, and is definitely in need of a good meal! Seeing the discomfort Drake had been in, their rescuer was able to get him some basic immediate care and RBARI will now be taking over all of his medical needs. Fortunately Drake's ailments are all treatable and this sweet boy will be on the road to recovery in no time!
