Farms: Downtown Greenville's Rooftop Farm: A Step Forward

The Greenville Rooftop Farming Initiative is a project that was conceived and launched in 2014 by downtown Greenville, SC resident Will Morin. Having seen similar projects developed in other major metropolitan cities such as New York City's Brooklyn Grange Farm, Will thought Greenville was ripe for its own rooftop farm. With the help of the staff and ownership of Larkin's on the River, local citizens, Food Network celebrity & author Simon Majumdar and guidance from Mill Village Farms - the first in the state of South Carolina Rooftop 'Aeroponic' Vegetable Farm is growing on Main Street. The rooftop farm will serve the continuing mission of Mill Village Farms by growing and harvesting 400-600 plants weekly during the growing season and in turn sell these vegetables in underserved areas for very little cost.
