Date has male and female. You can't get crop from one plant unless it be female and get pollen from somewhere.

Here in Australia I am growing Barhee, Khalas and Medjool dates and will have my first harvest this season (2016-17). If I were starting working life again I would choose to be a date farmer. I love them.
