First play-through of a dark souls game ever (DS3): killed the first mimic I found on the High Wall of Lothric. Thought to myself golly gosh that was hard. Looted it and found a deep axe AND the symbol of avarice. Tried it on thought, woah this looks crazy! then noticed my health slowly decreasing. Decided item was total trash and sold it to someone in the firelink. IT HAS NOT DROPPED EVER AGAIN EVEN AFTER SEVERAL MORE PLAY THROUGHS... FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF~

Pro tip for uchigatana: low health and bad at dodging/parrying/ or overall fighting this dood? Pop an ember before Vordt of the boreal valley fight (2nd boss) and summon the sword master, should he die in battle you can head back to where he normally is and pick up the loot.

You can stand near the bottom of the stairs and wait for the dragon to swing her head and make a run for the items. She won't spit fire while she's yawning/roaring.
