On October 16, 2015, Congressman Jim McGovern launched his first district wide "Marketing the Heart of the Commonwealth" Bus Tour for Central Mass from the Worcester Regional Airport. The tour helped focus on Central and Western Massachusetts tourism and local businesses such as, museums, attractions, outdoor destinations, and other businesses. "With millions of visitors coming to Massachusetts every year, travel and tourism is a vital part of our economy. With this bus tour, we're highlighting some of the great destinations we have to offer here in Central and Western Massachusetts," Congressman McGovern said. "With so many strong partners at the state and local level, I'm proud to continue our work with business leaders throughout the region today to help grow our economy and bring more tourism dollars to our communities right here in Central and Western Massachusetts." Director, Metro West Visitors Bureau Christina Andreoli, VP of Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce Seth Stratton, VP and General Counsel, MGM Springfield Ann Hamilton, President of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Mark Wright, Executive Director, North Quabbin Center Kham Inthirath, Founder of Envision Digital Group The bus tour emphasized all different businesses and areas where they reside. They tour started and continued from: Worcester Regional Airport in Worcester, MA Davidian and Tougas Farms in Northborough, MA Tower Hill Botanical Gardens in Boylston, MA Davis Family Farmland in Sterling, MA Carter & Stevens Farm in Barre, MA Historic Deerfield in Deerfield, MA The Tunnel Bar in Northampton, MA Eric Carle Museum in Amherst, MA Quabbin Visitors Center in Belchertown, MA Red Maple Inn in Spencer, MA and ended the tour back at the Worcester Regional Airport, MA The tour offered a lot of insight on a few of the local businesses in the region. Tourists do like to visit the city of Boston, but families like to come to Central Massachusetts for all the different places it has to offer. It's affordable, quaint and quiet for some relaxing time for couples as well.
