Raymond Gitau Wanyugi holds a Diploma in Co-operative Management and Administration from the Moscow Co-operative Institute and a Diploma in Adult Education from the University of Nairobi. With over 25 years experience in community leadership, Mr Gitau has the knowledge and understanding of credit systems and cooperative management for small-scale producers in growing markets. He is currently one of the directors, representing producer members, of FAST, finance alliance for sustainable trade. Through this position he hopes to ensure small scale producers get training and support to acquire credit, build up capacity and develop better production management controls. Ndumberi Coffee Cooperative, was inaugurated by Kenya's first president Jomo Kenyatta in 1960. They provide vital technologies, and sustenance, to coffer farmers. It has wet mills in Ndumberi, Riabai and Ngaita. In 2006, the company launched their sustainable coffee chain, the Ndumberi Coffee Improvement Project, the only organization in Kenya to be certified through UTZ Certified Good Inside and Fair Trade.
