This seminar on "Climate Change: Challenges and Opportunities for Family Farming" took place in the Northeastern Brazilian State of Paraíba in May, 2007 and was organised by Projeto Dom Helder Camara, CEPFS, Centro Sabiá and Trócaire. The objective of the seminar was to promote a process of sharing information and experiences on climate change, its impact on family farming and environmental services provided by small farmers, to stimulate proactive initiatives to strengthen family farming in Northeastern Brazil. Over 70 people represented federal government projects, local authorities, social movements, NGOs, universities and small family farmers. The seminar was supported by Trócaire as part of its environmental justice programme, which addresses a contemporary global ethical issue as the persons that least contribute to the problem of climate change are those that suffer its consequences earliest and most. The video captures 'southern' feelings, analyses, perspectives and beliefs on the importance of family farming and its relation with climate change and puts forward proposals on what to do.
