Farms: Civilization V - "Praise the Victories" achievement EPIC LAST TURN !

I didn't think that Civ 5 can be this nail biting ! Turns out that my last achievement was the hardest ever. I tried this scenario as the Boers on deity a lot of times and I gave up being angry that this one totally depends on luck. However yesterday while I was on my way to the store a bird crapped on me right in the middle of the street (yes you've read that correctly :) ) and where I come from that means luck. So I decided I'm going to give this scenario one last go and it turns out that bird poo does have some mystical influence on Civ 5 :D. I barely, just barely managed to squeeze a victory out of this last game and now I have 100% completion - YAY ! And poetically this last achievement is called "Praise the Victories" ... This game was different from the ones I've played before as the Boers because at my starting location I had no defensive terrain. My second city was not even on a hill. I've built both of my cities on luxury resources and immediately started building farms all around. I declared war on England at around turn 3 which protected me from Portugal. Did the same with Germany a few turns later. I saved up my units as best as I could to promote them and I spent all my great generals to build citadels. Went for the military policies first and after that the culture ones. I started pumping up my production in the capital and after that building military units. In my second city I started working on culture buildings right away (writers guild first followed by a garden and national epic to boost great person generation). I positioned my puny military around Bloemfontein and left the capital completely unprotected because I hoped that Portugal will be busy with the Zulu. I spent my last great writer to write propaganda (or whatever it is) for a single huge culture boost and my last great artist on a golden age. With 14 turns to go it was a tie in points between me and Ethiopia (5015 points to be exact) and I was earning more points every turn then my biggest rival. With 6 turns left I had the lead by about 200 points and already opened a bottle of champagne but Portugal declared war unexpectedly! There was no way to prevent this because I could not bribe Portugal in any way. Lost my capital in 1 turn (yes the Portuguese were not playing around) which meant that my culture growth took a devastating hit - it got halved by 50% and there were still 5 turns to go. This obviously meant that Ethiopia had a huge chance to catch up and take the lead and of course I had two European problems right at my doorstep. I surrounded Bloemfontein with the few units I had left to make a last stand. I focused only on the weak enemies to get as much kills as possible per turn in order to get the most culture possible in this situation. I made my last attack clicked next turn which meant it was down to three possible outcomes. Either I loose because Portugal or England takes my last city, I loose because Ethiopia takes the lead in points or I win keeping my lead in points and manage to protect my last city. These were the most tense seconds in Civ 5 history :) In the end I stood there waving a victory flag with my pants down and my naked butt right in the face of Ethiopia, Portugal and England ! I guess the moral of this story is - If you want to win the game on deity as the Boers - get crapped on by a bird :D I'm going out for a beer - I deserve it !

I got 6300+ score last turn, and kept Pretoria and Bloemfontein, my seasoned warriors fell one by one by the sword of Portuguese. but the damn Ethiopian have 6600+, it seems their blood spilled meaninglessly. I just want to know when will Ethiopian be declared by Italy, holy sh t.

I don't get it. How did he win?

Wow, that even beats my game for the "Ottoman Carpentry" achievement, where Egypt had only 40 points less than me after the final turn. But this was the most difficult one for you? I had way more trouble with the Ottomans, or the Into the Renaissance Achievements. I just conquered whole south africa as the Boers and didn't have any problems after turn 50.
