While Americans consistently express outrage about industrial sweatshops which employ young children overseas, NBC Bay Area discovered children working as many as 60 hours a week in agricultural fields across the United States. Investigative Reporter Stephen Stock, Investigative Producer David Paredes and Associate Producer Jamie Peraza spent weeks getting to know dozens of migrant worker families in order to gain their trust. With the leadership of the Executive Producer Matt Goldberg, the team spent weeks documenting the daily routines of the migrant farm workers and their children who worked alongside them. The team got up with the child workers before dawn and followed them long past nightfall. As part of this project our team talked to more than 100 people who were either directly or indirectly connected with the migrant farm worker and child labor issue.
