Seeing this ad brought me a huge wave of nostalgia.
Visiting Cascadia has been a tradition in my family for decades, the highlight of long drives and a sign that summer was just around the corner when the shop sign flipped to OPEN.
I remember being five or six years old and walking up the long ramp after having visited the river to watch the eagles fishing with my parents and grandmother, scampering through the teaching gardens and peeking into the fridges and freezers full of goodies. The highlight of the visit was always getting the fresh made ice cream, usually way too much for my tiny mouth to actually consume in a decent amount of time and ending up with my mom fussing over me when I made an enormous mess.
Now I've grown up, moved houses, graduated, got a job, and I'll admit I haven't visited in a while. But I've got some time off coming up. Maybe Mum and Dad would like to go with me for a drive... -
