I would love to see you compare the book to the 1975 mini series from the BBC it's a very good show and was realised in the UK as a film on VHS and later on DVD as its original episode to episode. It's on YouTube.

So glad they talked about the MUSICAL!
It's probably my favorite musical simply for the nostalgia factor. But I agree - the musical does put more of an emphasis on the adults at Mary, Colin, AND DICKON's expense, and as such, it does have a soap opera vibe to it. -
the love triangle between Archy Neville and Lily is almost exactly the same as the one between Snape James and Lily in Harry Potter!

does your sis have username?

FYI The actor that played Craven was John Lynch, usually a solid actor from my part of the world, Northern Ireland.

"Nothing really stands out about the imagery of the movie," you say? I suppose it's not as distinct as the book or musical by comparison, but it's STILL Roger Deakins we're talking about here. This is the cinematographer that never fails to frame and light a shot like a beautiful painting. This is the guy who directed the photography of Doubt, A Beautiful Mind, Skyfall, Prisoners, Rise of the Guardians, Thunderheart, The Shawshank Redemption, Wall-E, the How to Train Your Dragon series, almost all of the Coen brother's films, and this film. He is the biggest B.A.M.F of cinematography alive today. :P

I have no idea where Cassie is coming from with the "Archibald in the movie is just a horrible rendering of the character!" stuff. I thought Archibald is one of the most interesting characters in the film. His very opaqueness, the ambiguity of his exact thoughts and feelings, makes him intriguing to me, makes me want to watch the film again to see if there's something I missed.
And yet Hatter, who should be standing up for the movie, just lets Cassie steamroller right over the movie's version of Archibald. Waddup wid dat? -
It's "than me". If you're going to make a joke about grammatical flaws, at least come up with and actual grammatical flaw.

I couldn't even finish this book. It was way too slow and boring for my taste.
