In which Matt and Hatter compare Natalie Babbitt's timeless children's story with the Disney adaptation from 2002. And absolutely nothing else happens. All clips belong to Disney. Music is "Showdown," by Kevin MacLeod, http://incompetech.com Also, the next review is NOT Lord of the Rings, though I know it seems like it. Sorry.

Look, the movie was total trash and shouldn't have even used the same title as the book. A book shouldn't be turned into something it isn't...Hollywood screws up all books . Look at what Bradbury says about how people wanted his books changed. It's the same thing. Hollywood is basically burning books ..

It's worth noting that in the book, Miles' family didn't leave him necessarily because they die, but because his wife noticed he didn't age and thought he 'sold his soul to the devil' and actively left him with his children, which seems to be even more reason to be bitter about immortality. But Miles in the book doesn't seem all that bitter about it, he just wants to do something good about it, and he even says he doesn't think it's good to use your immortality to do careless and adventurous things like Jesse or to hide away and mope like his father, but use it to do something good in the world. Also, does he go to war in the book? I don't think it says that anywhere.
Like you said, the book is more about philosophy and pondering the concept of immortality while the movie is more romance and angst. But I think the movie's drama is more enjoyable to me. The book is good as an intriguing, philosphical read bringing up a fascinating concept and sharing different viewpoints and opinions of a family that's tried to live like this as best as they can, but in the movie I liked seeing things like Jesse and Winnie's relationship, Miles playing cards, Miles and Jesse's more shaky relationship, Winnie's parents' guilt and the reunion with the family at the start with Jesse and Mae being all happy and Miles sort of just standing to the side. The book is just a fascinating idea and a sharing of opinions of said idea, and it's probably better, but I like the extra conflict and drama in the movie. -

I love this movie I watch it as a kid and after watching the petter pan once the movie in this one is kinda like a teenage petter pan with Wendy and petter

Thanking for the ending im telling my class

Book was better but I have soft spot for the movie. Though to bring this up Winnie kinda riminded me of toph. Both comming from rich families being coddled way to much and ultimaly running away and meeting people she'd rather be with ie Aang katara and Sokka and the tucks.

agreed the book was better

You could do Memoir's of a Geisha as well for comparison for book vs. movie.
-
Winnie dies SPOILER MUCH?
-
No, they represent his two different parts of himself, one that stands for movies, and one that stands for books.
