In which Matt is waylaid by his sister, and compares C.S. Lewis's classic children's story against the 2005 Disney adaptation. Apologies for the wind noise in some of the clips. If you can't understand something, let me know and I'll translate. Music is "Long Note Three" and "Showdown," by Kevin MacLeod. All movie clips are owned by Disney.

You said Ed was never really explained. Yes, it was the school he went to.
-
ha ha! the little reference to Riven made me smile.
-
Prince Caspian
-
I'm watching this because I'm planning my NaNo novel (yes, I'm getting a head start) and I wrote "wardrobe" and I thought "Narnia" :P
-
Edmund is well a little shit. What is it with little brothers ruining it for everyone between him and Bran Stark
-
hey Matt will you be doing Prince Caspian and the Dawn Treder forgive my spelling just in case Anyways have a great day and God bless bless and keep up with the great work and God bless😇😇😎😎😀😀
-
Will you do any other of the NARNIA series?
-
I just remember that I recently brought the first two books of Narnia.
-
I love the BBC version. I was a huge fan of this series and read all the books. As a kid when I found the mini series I was excited and loved it. That was along time ago. Still I really liked the series as a whole and read it over and over again.
-
this is one of those where I'm like "what about the musical?" lol
-
I think that the white witch from the BBC version fit the book better. She looked almost like the illustration and acted like her. Tilda Swinton was too calm in the role for me
-
I read the book as child and saw the movie a few years ago. I found the movie a total disappointed
-
I would really like to see a movie adaptation of The Magician's Nephew - the prequel/sequel of the series.
-
I think the movie is better than the book but I still did enjoy reading the book, I haven't read the other books so yeh
-
Wait Matt, you live in Seattle, that's awesome, I live on Whidbey island
-
Of course it's a Jesus allegory. It was deliberate: CS Lewis said so himself!
-
You choose the suckiest Narnia book. You honestly did. Prince Caspian, The Horse and His Boy, The Silver Chair... THEY ARE ALL WAY BETTER!!! Prince Caspian even has a new(ish) movie version. And the movie version is AMAZING... but the book would still win!
-
The book DOES explain why Edmund was being spiteful... not very well, granted. but it does. He was being bullied at school, really badly.
-
I think the book is set against the background of WW2... Isn't that why the kids are evacuated to the country. Just to finish this by saying, there is NO way that the movie is even comparable to the book, never mind better. Sorry - cheesy Disney movies can't compete with the master prose of C.S Lewis...

Matt, have you read The Narnia Code? It's basically a book that reveals quite elegantly that the seven books of Narnia each represent one of the seven planets of pre-Copernican astronomy, along with all their spiritual/christian/roman god/mythology symbolism. I think it's a genuine discovery, and if you read the book along with rereading the series, it'd make for an interesting review or two.
