Bob Evans Restaurants presents a check for $103,724.74 to JDRF to help them continue the quest in a cure for Type 1 diabetes. This was done at our top fundraising restaurant in Holland, MI led by Server, Sam Ledford, GM Brian Burnham & Area Coach Jeff Hoard. For 21 days (February 27 -- March 19, 2014), guests were able to contribute to JDRF, leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research, by purchasing a JDRF Paper Sneaker for a donation of their choice at any of the Bob Evans 562 restaurants in 19 states.. Bob Evans Restaurants then held a national community fundraiser on the last day of the campaign (March 19) donating 15 percent of food and beverage sales to JDRF for those guests who presented a fundraising flyer requesting a donation to help fight diabetes. "This truly was a team effort and we are grateful for each dollar donated," says Brian Carney, Senior Vice President of Operations of Bob Evans Farms. "Bob Evans has been supporting diabetes-related charities for more than 20 years and once again, our local communities have come together to make a major difference and support our newest charitable partner, JDRF. Our guests have a big heart for this cause, and have done so much to help families who have been touched by T1D." Last year, Bob Evans began a partnership with JDRF, holding its first nationwide fundraiser. JDRF Paper sneakers were sold in more than 50 Columbus-area restaurants, and more than $15,000 was raised for Type 1 diabetes research. By expanding the JDRF Paper Sneaker Sales to all restaurants, this year's initiative proved to be even more successful, raising awareness and research dollars nationwide.
