Standing in a stubble field in Northamptonshire surrounded by a 14.4 megaWatt power station, enough for around 13,000 homes. Wind barely blowing and no noise, smoke or waste products. A wonderful discussion with Charles Haworth who is the Operations Leader for Onshore Wind for General Electric. My favourite youtube channel. Amazingly well done. Love it.

amazing!

The real question that never gets answered is:
How much energy does it take to create, manufacture, transport and assemble and ultimately remove/dispose all the materials that makes a wind turbine and its supporting infrastructure...
vs
The energy it produces over its lifetime.
The system only works when it all gets made from coal power in China, transported with oil from Saudi Arabia, and then put up in Norway boasting that "88.53% of our energy comes from renewable sources"...
😐 -
Standing in the middle of a fucking wheatfield with a safety hat and a high-vis vest... 😑
Only in UK... -
Nuclear power is still the only the green way to go.
-
Why are you wearing helmets ? Is this a poo dropping site ?
-
very nice, thank you.
-
if I may ask, do the wind turbines create any vibration in their surrounding?
-
And Theresa May has just blown an absolutely enormous wad of cash on the white elephant that will be Hinkley C, built by the French and funded by the Chinese. Makes you want to weep and also to ask who exactly has their pig snouts in that ocean of money?
-
Exactly how I like my fullycharged show most: educational discussions with a very interesting speaker, keep it up!
-
Remembering how man, both educated and un educated not long ago thought the oceans were too large to ever be affected by anything we emptied into it. Obviously we now realize how wrong a thought that was. This causes me to wonder if suddenly adding lots more surface drag to Mother Earth will one day come back to bite us.
Also
The presenter said something like "free energy". For me, obviously it costs lots of both money and Mother Earth's natural/finite resources to manufacture wind turbines than transport and erect them to create a wind farm.......
But
I still love to see TWs turning in the breeze..... -
The technology is ready and a huge success, it is only the government regulation that is a huge failure. So sad the Brits have obviously no interest in voting for things that are in their best interest.
-
What a load of non-sense wearing hard hats and hi vis vests, ridiculous! I can only suppose that wind farms panic the bird life to the point of shitting on those standing near them. Shitproof protective eye wear?
-
I love watching them go and go..
I think wind farms are the visual equivalent of whale songs. -
Teresa May seems to be going for the center ground like new labour, hopefully she will do something about the wind limbo in Britain, Britain has allot of wind, time to use it!
-
This government is screwing us. People in this country seem to think we're living in the 1950s...
-
Yet another video good video :)
-
what kind of miracle turbines are those, which spining with no visible wind on your clothes and bushes???
-
I frequently travel along the Minnesota / Iowa border in the US which in the last decade it has seen an explosion of wind farms. There is something eerily beautiful about the sea of blinking red warning lights they generate.
-
I was always wondering: do the turbines emit any perceptible noise? Maybe standing right beneath the blades while running?
