Such a wonderful film, and such wonderful memories of dragging my parents out (from Nutley) on the weekends to pet the donkey and ride the C&S railroad! (And how I cried when they closed in 1972.) Thanks for sharing images of a beautiful time gone by.

Great memories, thanks for posting this. We used to ride this train a lot. I remember my Dad always had his 8 mm movie camera rolling, and I have at least a few 50 foot reels on this railroad. If I can get some time to locate them, I'll post them. Thanks again.

I grew up in West Caldwell near Harrison Ave. I remember back in the 70s as a kid the farm there and when they started building it into an office complex. Most of the rural memories of that area were just memories before my lifetime. (I was born in 1970 in Denville but from 75 onwards lived in West Caldwell until I studied at the University of Pittsburgh.) Anyhow, does anyone here have pictures of Passaic ave from the 1950s?? I would love to have that. ANDY

I grew up in Roseland NJ. I tramped around those woods as a young boy. I can remember the abandoned roadbed up in the woods. I rode my bicycle in old Gene Becker`s corn fields. Dam those vultures who buldozed those woods and built up my pretty little town! Curse their hides!

Nice! I was a kid when the moms from our Cedar Grove neighborhood took us on a ride. Sweet fuzzy memories : )

Feeling nostalgic, and missing my late father, I searched for Becker's Farm and was happy to see this film. Thank you very much for sharing it with us. Bob

Becker's Farm was in Livingston and Becker's property backed up to my back yard. Occasionally Becker's cows would break through the fence, cross the pasture and come right into our back yard and lounge. Sights I'll never forget as a kid. Yes drinking the chocolate milk in the little bottles while jumping on the rocks in that little pond with the gold fish that swam in it. Priceless. Livingston is in the process of its bicentennial and looking for Livingston history. I'm sending this along.

Sure brings back memories! Thanks.

One of the best color videos of the legend of the Centerville & Southwestern RR! Clearly shown are locomotive #1501 a 4-8-4 coal burning 2" scale masterpiece, and diesel #1502. Also shown are bits of Henry Becker's Roseland, NJ farm, cows and kids and adults enjoying this miniature DL&W model. The majority of this RR is now at the Phillipsburg Railroad Historians in Phillipsburg, NJ. Thanks for providing this glimpse into NJ History. If you have more, please post them! Much appreciated!
