Calls came into the fire alarm office around 3:30am reporting a barn fire on Benson Rd. The long vacant barn was fully involved and collapsed shortly before firefighters arrived. It was basically a pile of rubble when they arrived. The fire spread to a large area of brush. It took about a 1/2 hour to contain the fire. A nearby home had to be evacuated due to the excessive heat.

I live down The street from this. The structure had been abandoned for many years. No animals. The charred timbers are still there. Great work NFD.

too bad to lose the barn and hopefully no animals however considering the extent, exposures, best let it go. save water, lives, and in a couple hours it would be out of fuel.
