Farms: An Urban Farmer in the City
Productivity | Information | History | View | Quality
Throughout her young adult life, Amanda Morse has worked entirely in the nonprofit food sector. When she moved to Portland, Oregon, she was ready to apply her skills in a new direction. Knowing she wanted to live in the city, Morse decided to become an urban farmer, and began researching vacant plots of land in the city using Google Maps and other online resources to contact prospective property owners about leasing their land. When the owner of the Tropicana Barbecue restaurant in North Portland responded favorably, in the winter of 2011, Morse was able to begin transforming the ¼ acre parcel adjacent to the restaurant into her Blue House Greenhouse Farm. Sadly a lot of local governments make it more difficult for things like this to succeed. The Pacific Northwest is a lot more friendly to these types of things than most other places, like NEW YORK CITY! No! We need $$$$!

We love to see people grow their own food successfully thank for the info
-
Here in UK that wouldn't be allowed, sadly. We need all sorts of permission from local councils, insurances etc., and it's usually refused.

"An Urban Farmer in the City". Where else would an urban farmer be?

Doing it like a boss!

there's youtubes about ending every sentence with a question mark? You're beautiful Lady! But it's hard to get past ending every sentence as if you're asking a question? "Suspension of disbelief?" Cucumbers? Profit? Honesty? Sad... about your communication style, no doubt Canadian influence?(??) "We sold some cucumbers today?"
I wish you could somehow change the syntac of your voice inflections, because you are right on with what you are doing! -
Getn U ready for the END times

That's a good looking garden, pitch the idea to your local authorities, it's gotta be better then letting derelict sections get all weedy and let the landlords have some free food, thats what people used to do when i was a kid, Their land got looked after and they got food until they wanted to do something with it

Very inspiring.

Still there? I live in the Couve, but I'd love to see what your place looks like!
-
You're doing a great job. I know it's hard to put 100% in something that's not a sure thing. God bless you and your garden.

I liked the part with the bees. It show how we can feed ourselves and sustain other ecosystems. Thanks.
