It's a shame that this system exists. The really strange part is that my 2 acre garden is a pleasure to pick because it means fresh fruit and vegetables for my table. But there's no hot sun and the air conditioned house is 50 feet away. Out driving once my truck stalled just past Labelle and while trying to get it going I was watching migrant workers pick oranges. Large farms are terrible places to work compared to the small home garden. There's no satisfaction in the work. Interestingly two of the Migrant workers asked me in Spanish if I needed help to get my truck going. In poor Spanish I thanked them but said I will get it going. Once I fixed the fuel selector I was on my way again. There has to be a better way.

If all these illegals are so valuable to you growers then you take care of them and get them off the welfare rolls. You only need them to pick and while you make the money we pay their way. I don't think that's fair.

congrats! now they are the new slaves!!!! pay a real living wage and you would have workers!!!!

Omg.. SO MUCH WATERMELON!! :) :D

Sin los hispanos, los Estados Unidos sería nada.

You must be "brown". Its the job title not race on who does harder work. A white, black, asian person can hav a harder job than a brown person
-
Damn straight white ppl don't do hard jobs nor blacks for that matter. It's the browns who do the hard work.

What you have done is amazing. Thank you. I teach at a community college campus that has a large percentage of students who come from immigrant families who work in agriculture, mostly from Mexico. This documentary speaks to their experience and honors it. Many thanks.

It doesnt take a genius to realize that the fruit and vegetables in the supermarkets are picked by hispanic population. I do apreciate the hard work that they do, i wish someday we would be able to value their effort.

@thefarmerswife05 Amen sister and you're welcome. To me, being fair to one side means being fair to both sides of this issue. We owe the American farmer and the workers who harvest their crops a debt of gratitude.
